Berndt WARSCHAUER was born on April 1, 1925, in Berlin. Housed at Château de Chabannes, the OSE home in St. Pierre de Fursac (Creuse), he was arrested by French police in the big roundups in the Free Zone on August 26, 1942. He was held in the local assembly center in Boussac (Creuse), transferred to the regional assembly camp in Nexon, from there sent to Drancy, and deported from Drancy to Auschwitz on convoy 26 of August 31, 1942.    Arno KACZINSKI was born in Germany in 1926. He followed the same sad trail from Château de Chabannes as his friend Berndt Warschauer. On May 28, 1996, OSE and the Creuse department placed memorial plaques, including one at Château de Chabannes, to the Jewish children who were arrested there and deported.
