        Louis                                                                    Gérard

Louis LEWKOWITZ was born on June 27, 1933, in Nancy (Meurthe-et-Moselle). He fled to Sanxay (Vienne) and was interned in the Poitiers camp. He was transferred to the UGIF Lamarck center in Paris and sent to the UGIF Montreuil home, with his friend Gérard SZPIEGEL. The latter was born in 1933, probably in Nancy, and had followed the same itinerary as Louis. Louis was deported on convoy 77 of July 31, 1944; Gérard, whose father was a prisoner of war, was sent to Bergen-Belsen on convoy 80 of July 25, 1944. He survived. (Photo cr: Mj-Pp)
