The BENDAYAN family was a victim of the roundup of October 20, 1943, at the UGIF family center of La Verdière in Marseilles. Shown here are Sultana Reinette, the mother; in front of her, from left to right, are: Clarisse, age 17; Mauricette, 16; George, 8; Albert, 10; and Simone, 13. Clarisse and Georges were born in Marseilles, Albert and Simone in Salé. Sultana and four of her children were arrested and deported on convoy 61 of October 28, 1943. Mauricette escaped the roundup but was later arrested and deported on convoy 74 of May 20, 1944.
