Thérèse et Berthe

Abraham and Sura EILENBERG were deported after the Vel d'Hiv roundup, when they were snapped up at their home at 17 impasse Saint-François in Paris (18th arr.). They left on convoys 15 and 16. With them on convoy 16 of August 7, 1942, was the oldest of their children, Berthe, age 13. Two other children were taken on convoy 23 of August 24: Thérèse, 8, and Jacques-Isaac, 2. Thérèse and Berthe are shown in the top photograph; Berthe is with Jacques in the left photo. Only one daughter, Fanny, escaped deportation.
