André BAUR was the outstanding personality of the UGIF in the Occupied Zone. He showed courage and self-sacrifice. He was arrested on July 21, 1943, for having denounced SS Brunner's sadistic methods at Drancy to the Vichy government. Like R. R. Lambert, director of the UGIF in the southern zone, he did not wish to hide his family. They were all deported with him on December 17, 1943, on convoy 63. All of them perished. Here he is shown with his wife, Odette; Pierre, age 10; Myriam, 9; Antoine, 6; and Francine, 3. They lived in Paris at 8 rue Alfred Dehodencq (16th arr.).
