This is the ID card established by the Prefecture of Indre-et-Loire for the camp in Lalande. Each child was photographed holding a number in his or her hands, as if a criminal. Like many others, Roland and Bernard were born in France and were French citizens. But on their cards they are labelled étranger surveillé (foreigner under surveillance).
